Geiger (PPAI 105182, D12), a family-owned distributorship headquartered in Maine, has been in business for almost 150 years. Founded by two brothers, Geiger family members still hold executive positions, and the company has grown from local to international. Geiger embraces multiple sustainability initiatives, most notably installing the largest privately owned solar panel system in the state of Maine in 2018. The array eliminates about 320,000 pounds of carbon pollution from fossil fuel power plants every year, according to the company. “Our building is 100% powered by the sun, and since put into service, it has prevented 1.3 million pounds of CO2 from entering the atmosphere,” says Chris McKee, senior vice president and chief revenue officer.
